The EZ Glide™ Seat Anchor System

The Problem

Why the Original Design Fails Over Time

The original Aerostar seat design uses six alloy steel studs with round bases in contact with a set of aluminum tracks. The seat moves longitudinally on four wheels riding on top of the tracks — the anchors retain the seat in the tracks. In a perfect set-up, the steel studs should engage the inside of the aluminum track very lightly and uniformly as the seat is moved fore and aft. Small steel collars on each stud keep the studs centered in the tracks.

So what’s the problem?

The tracks wear and become uneven after years of use. Tracks are repeatedly removed and re-installed at annual or for maintenance; track alignment and spacing can vary from original dimensions. Seat frames can change — toe in or out slightly. These changes can result in a condition where the locking plunger in the seat no longer lines up with the track cut-out, and seat position is not secure.

The Solution

A Permanent Upgrade, Not a Temporary Fix

The new system from November Whiskey, Inc. corrects all of the above problems. Central to the solution is the patented EZ Glide™ anchor. This anchor combines the latest in materials technology with an innovative design approach.

Materials Engineering

Hardened alloy steel is used to meet the load requirements. UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) plastic is used for the bearings — a material with frictional characteristics as good as Teflon and exceptionally good wear resistance. The same material is used in joint replacement surgery for low-friction wear elements. Estimated useful life: 25-35 years.

Precision Installation

Each shipset includes two track gauges to ensure accurate spacing during installation, plus a seat frame gauge to check seat dimensions. To correct spacing problems, a spreader bar is included for each seat. To accommodate uneven wear in existing tracks, each EZ Glide™ anchor is installed with a curved spring washer — this pre-loads the bearing and allows for a tiny amount of up-and-down motion.

What You Get

Built for Safety, Smoothness, and Longevity

Captive in the Track

Seats cannot come out of the track on takeoff roll — eliminating a serious and well-known Aerostar hazard.

4× the Contact Area

More than twice as strong as the original anchors, with four times the bearing surface for safer, more secure mounting.

Includes Pilot Seat Stops

Dedicated seat stops are included with every kit to prevent the dangerous rearward slide that can occur on takeoff.

No More Annual Adjustments

Install once and stay perfectly adjusted. No more paying a tech to adjust seats at every annual inspection.

Protects Your Tracks

EZ Glide bearings don't wear the aluminum tracks — eliminating the cost of future track replacement entirely.

25-35 Year Service Life

UHMWPE bearings deliver Teflon-like friction with exceptional wear resistance — the same material used in joint replacements.

Installation

A Couple of Hours, Then Five Minutes Forever

Installation is easy and can be performed in 2–3 hours. Many Aerostar owners install the system themselves; others prefer to have their A&P mechanic handle the work. Either way, installation must be signed off in the aircraft logbook in accordance with FAA regulations. Here’s what’s involved:

1. Remove the front seat tracks. Because the EZ Glide anchors cannot pop out of the tracks, they install from the ends of the tracks — making this a perfect opportunity to clean tracks that haven’t been cleaned in years.

2. Install the cross brace. A cross brace is installed where the middle pins once were. This elevates the pins and adds strength to the seat to help prevent warping and twisting.

3. Replace the corner pins. The original corner pins are removed and the holes enlarged to accommodate the new gliders.

4. Reinstall and adjust. Re-install the tracks with the gliders, lower the seat onto them, install the spring washers and nuts, and tighten as needed.

After initial installation, future seat removal takes about 5 minutes — and seats remain perfectly adjusted, eliminating the need for annual tech adjustments.

Every kit includes the complete IM00349 Installation Manual.
